Minutes of the November 9, 2009
Meeting of the Board of Directors of the
Friends of Scandia Parks and Trails

Attendees: Karen Schik, Mike White, Tom Triplett, Stephen Ledo, Judy Rydeen, Michele McNulty and Matt Rasmussen. Absent: Mike Harnetty, Tom Krinke and Rich Burton.

1. Mike White moved to have the Friends write to the County Board urging the board to sell the bonds needed to finance land acquisition (as voted in by the county residents some years ago). Judy Rydeen seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. Karen offered to draft the letter.

2. The Board agreed that the annual meeting will be on Thursday, January 21 in the evening at the Community Center. A notice will go out to the members soon. The status of the Gateway Trail will be a major topic for the meeting. Ann Bancroft was invited to be our main speaker, but she has declined because of her travel schedule; she offered to come to a later meeting.

3. We will invite Jane Harper to our March board meeting to speak on county parks and trails issues.

4. Michele McNulty moved to work with Lion’s Club and the city’s Parks and Rec Committee to develop and promote the Hay Lake Park area. Matt Rasmussen seconded the motion and it passed. Tom will contact the Lions and PRC to ask how the Friends can be helpful.

5. Stephen Ledo moved to offer to the PRC that the Friends could help with Vinterfest as the PRC sees fit. Motion carried.

6. A survey from the Friends board to Friends members will be sent out prior to the January annual meeting to learn of the members’ priorities for Friends’ projects. The board also agreed to accept the city’s offer to have a link to the survey on the city’s website so that all residents could give their opinions as well. Tom will work with Anne to make that happen.

7. Tom reported in Rich’s absence that the Friends budget stands at about $1380.

8. Next Meeting is December 14.

9. Mike White moved and Karen seconded to adjourn. Motion carried.
